Safety Instructions
⚠️ Safety and Warning Instructions for Flashlights, Work Lights, Headlamps, and Camping Lanterns
Before using our lighting products (such as high-performance flashlights, workshop and inspection lights, headlamps, and camping lanterns), please be sure to observe the following warnings:
Visual Hazards & Glare (Eye Protection)
- Glare hazard: Modern LED lamps have extremely high luminosity. Never look directly into the beam of light and do not direct it at the eyes of people or animals.
- Traffic Safety: Never shine a blinding light into traffic or at moving vehicles, as this can cause temporary blindness and serious accidents.
- Stroboscopic effect: Using the strobe function (rapid flashing) may trigger epileptic seizures in susceptible individuals. Use with extreme caution!
Heat Generation & Fire Hazard
- Burn Hazard: High-performance lamps generate enormous heat at the lamp head and lens during operation (especially at the highest brightness levels). Avoid prolonged skin contact with these areas.
- Fire hazard due to covering: Always turn off the lamp before setting it down or stowing it in a bag. A covered, switched-on lamp traps heat, which can cause materials to melt or lead to fires.
- Transport safety: When transporting in backpacks or suitcases, always use the mechanical lock-out (e.g., slightly unscrewing the end cap) or the electronic button lock to prevent accidental activation.
Battery & Rechargeable Battery Safety (Especially Lithium-Ion)
- Fire and Explosion Hazard: For devices with lithium batteries (e.g., 18650, 21700), use only undamaged, high-quality brand-name cells. Rechargeable batteries with damaged insulation (heat-shrink tubing) or deformations must not be used anymore and may explode if short-circuited.
- Charging: Charge rechargeable batteries only with the chargers and cables provided or explicitly approved for this purpose. Never leave lithium-ion batteries unattended while charging, and charge them on a fire-resistant surface.
- Polarity & Mixed Use: Always ensure correct polarity (+/-) when inserting batteries/rechargeable batteries. Never mix old batteries with new ones or cells from different manufacturers and with different capacities.
- Risk of Leakage: Remove alkaline batteries from the lamp if it will not be used for an extended period of time to prevent damage from leaking battery acid.
Mechanical Hazards, Environmental Conditions & Handling
- Strong magnets: Many workshop lamps and angled flashlights have strong neodymium magnets in the base. Keep these away from pacemakers, medical implants, magnetic data storage devices, and sensitive electronics.
- Strangulation hazard: When using headlamps, there is a risk of the headband getting caught (e.g., on branches or rotating machine parts). Special caution is required when used by children.
- Water resistance (IP ratings): Observe the specified protection class. Lights rated for splash resistance (e.g., IPX4) must not be submerged in water. Before any contact with water, always check that the charging ports and sealing rings (O-rings) are intact and tightly sealed.
- Children: Flashlights, especially those with small parts that could be swallowed or high-performance batteries, are not toys and must be kept out of the reach of small children.
