DIN Rail Power Supplies: Power Supplies For DIN Rail Mounting
DIN rail power supplies, or rail mounted power supplies, are characterized by their quick and easy installation and maintenance. They are mounted on DIN rails and provide an efficient and stable power supply.
DIN rails offer the possibility to accommodate many devices in a space-saving way. Therefore, a DIN rail power supply must be particularly compact. In order not to produce unnecessary excess heat, DIN rail power supplies have a high efficiency just like other switched-mode power supplies.
How to select a DIN rail power supply unit
Depending on the area of application, the requirements for a DIN rail power supplies differ. An important decision factor is the operating environment of the power supply. The life span of a power supply is strongly dependent on the environment, which is why it is important to know both the maximum and the average ambient temperature. Attention should also be paid to the design of the DIN rail power supply. The lower the heat generation, the more compact the DIN rail power supply can be installed.
It must also be clarified whether a power supply is to be used for a 1-phase or 3-phase system, since not every power supply can automatically be implemented in parallel operation.
Last but not least, the energy efficiency of the power supply should also be considered. With a high efficiency, the heat generation for the overall system is low, which also has a positive effect on the service life of the power supply.
