Electrical Safety & Voltage Hazards (Danger to Life)

Measurement categories (CAT): Pay attention to the permissible overvoltage category (e.g., CAT III 600V, CAT IV 300V). Never use the devices in mains circuits that exceed the specified category or the maximum rated voltage/current.
Voltage-free condition: Perform resistance, continuity, diode, or capacitance measurements exclusively on voltage-free circuits. Capacitors must be discharged before measurement.
Fuses: Replace defective fuses in multimeters exclusively with the exact same type (usually high-resistance ceramic fuses with the same voltage and current specifications). Never bypass them!
